ACCEPTING SEALED BIDS

The Alliance Rural Fire Protection District, Alliance Nebraska will be taking bids on a 1996 MEDTEC Type II Ambulance on a Ford E350 Econoline chassis with a 7.3 liter powerstroke diesel engine with 136,000 miles. Bids may be sent to Alliance Rural Fire Protection District, c/o Ambulance Bids, 315 Cheyenne, Alliance NE 69301 by 5:00 PM May 19th 2008. Bids will be opened May 20th at 5:30 PM. Bid will be awarded by May 31st 2008. Minimum bid of $6,000.00. The Alliance Rural Fire Protection District reserves the right to reject any and all bids. CITY OF ROLLA FIRE & RESCUE, FIREFIGHTER, REGULAR/FULL-TIME

Grade Classification/Salary Range:
Fire 6 -1 $ 26,763 - $ 35,443 (Firefighter I, II)
Plus ten paid holidays, one personal holiday after one year of service, and possible overtime (non-exempt employee)

Description of Basic Duties:
Selected candidates will be required to perform a variety of duties, such as firefighting,
routine maintenance, cleaning of city buildings, operate an emergency vehicle in a safe
and defensive manner, meet physical aspects of job, and perform other duties as job
requires.

Education Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent GED Certificate.
State Certified Firefighter I, II by May 31, 2008
Missouri First Responder within 12 months of appointment.

Physical Requirements:

Applicants must be in excellent physical condition.

Other Requirements:

Must be a USA citizen at least 21 years of age possessing a valid drivers license.

Must successfully pass the following examinations and board interviews: Physical Agility Test, Written Fire Entry Exam, Peer Review Board, a background investigation and a medical physical examination.

All qualified applicants will be notified of their eligibility to take the written exam. The exam will be administered on May 12, 2008 at 6 p.m. at the Eugene Northern Community Hall, 400 West 4th Street.

Must reside within a fifteen (15) mile radius or twenty (20) minute response at the posted speed limit of the City limits within six (6) months after appointment.

Fire Chief, $82,712 to $115,821/Doq.  The City of Sioux City, IA, is seeking a Fire Chief with a proven track record of strong leadership, interpersonal and financial skills to lead a department of 113 sworn officers providing services from 7 fire stations.   

The Fire Chief is responsible for leading firefighting services for the 85,000 residents of Sioux City.  Other department responsibilities include:  arson investigation, fire prevention activities, fire safety inspection activities, public education, and administration of the Fire Department’s annual budget which amounts to $11,393,900.  The Fire Chief reports directly to the City Manager.

The ideal candidate will have experience and demonstrated commitment to community problem solving, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, team leadership ability, possess a participative management style, and the ability to work with diverse groups and individuals.  As a first step in ensuring that the new Fire Chief possesses appropriate levels of the above knowledge and abilities, the City is limiting applications to individuals who have extensive experience in fire service as a Captain, Assistant Chief, Chief or equivalent in a community with a population of at least 50,000.  Candidates should have a proven track record of successful leadership.  Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in fire management, public or business administration, or other related field, supplemented by completion of approved training in fire department administration, operations, inspection and prevention is desired, but not required.  Any equivalent combination of experience, education and training, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities, may be considered.  Graduation from the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program is desirable, but not required.
