FIRE Act Update

* Submitting a draft report about the recent meeting at the USFA to develop criteria for the FIRE Act grant

* Letters are being prepared to send to the divisions asking for names of candidates who can serve on the grant review panel

1710 Update

* Chief Brown attended the Great Lakes Division Forum

* The division better understands the IAFC's Board decision to support 1710

* Chief Brown is tentatively planning to meet with the Ohio fire chiefs in March

* An article from the IAFF newsletter was faxed to the Board - the article highlighted the IAFC's position

* Garry Briese will meet with Harold Schaitberger on Tuesday to further discuss the IAFF's position

* The question was raised about the process of making amendments from the floor in Anaheim. Brian Johnson said that

an amendment would require a raise of hands. Any approved amendments by the membership would go back to the

Technical Committee for a vote before it goes to the Standards Council

* Brian Johnson will develop a cheat sheet to help explain the process for amendments that will be available prior to the May

Board meeting

Strategic Plan Update

* Move to adopt the revised document on the March 8th Board telecon

* Another draft will be sent next week

* Received only three comments and they have been incorporate into the document

Other discussion

* Chief Charlie Rule fell and broke his hip over the weekend

* Will forward any follow up information about Chief Rule's condition to Chief Bruegman and Board

* Mr. Briese will be meeting with representatives from Denver on Thursday afternoon

* Mr. Briese will be on leave on Friday
