The Missouri Valley Division continues to be very active. Attached to this report you will find our "Position Statements" which outlines our position on various items of concern. We would encourage all divisions to develop similar documents, as this would help everyone on the Board and within the Divisions understand the thoughts of each Division.

The MVAFC continues to work on our Strategic Plan and the draft should be ready by our Division meeting at the IAFC conference. We feel that our plan should be supportive of the IAFC plan and that plans developed by the individual states within our division should support the Missouri Valley and IAFC plan.

Since the January Board meeting I have been involved in the Board conference calls, reports to the MVAFC, Division Strategic Planning, presentation of the Life Membership Pin to Retired Chief Buck Hartley, numerous calls about NFPA 1710 and discussions with Mike Merwick and Chief Warren Hanks on the ICC.

In our position paper we address the requirements to serve on the IAFC Board of Directors. Again we strongly believe that members of the Board should be 5-bugle active chiefs of department. The Leadership, Expertise and Integrity of our organization are dependent on this level of leadership.

The current status of our election process and the mail ballot seams to be raising some questions about eligibility. The Missouri Valley Division would encourage the IAFC Board to support the intent of the by-laws and not give them the loosest interpretation when filling Board seats. If an individual is not the Fire Chief of a fire department at the appointment at the annual conference then they are not eligible. This matter should be referred to the CBL committee and further clarifications made if necessary.

The annual conference of the MVAFC will be held on July 11-13 in Casper Wyoming.
